under the sea

The last time we went diving was in the Philippines over a year ago. It was great to be exploring the underwater world again.

Today, we did two reef dives. Jacques, from Monaco, was our dive leader. Our second dive, in the afternoon, was much better with lots of colourful fish and exquisite-looking coral.

Lunch was cooked on board the boat and it was the best diving meal either of us has ever had.

Back on shore again, we went down to the hotel salon and got our hair cut. After months of dust and sand, my hair was a knotted mess. I merely wanted a simple trim but they wouldn't accept that and in the end, I had to "choose a model" from their dozen or so magazines before they would start.

Matt, sitting in the chair behind me, got the full treatment and was this close to getting his chin-hair threaded - didn't even know he had any! I had to bite my lip from not bursting out in laughter when I saw his face in the mirror as the male hairdresser closed in on him with this long piece of white thread, ready to attack. He quickly - and very diplomatically - refused.

Dinner was another feast.

Now, back in our comfortable room, it's only 9:30 but like Matt said in his email back home: "Apart from sleeping, the options are watching the Russian movie channel on the TV or joining the Italian tour group downstairs for 2 hours of 'Retro Dancing' with DJ Mido."

So, goodnight.

Comments:
Should mention that it's Jacque checking Matt's tank, not Matt checking Matt's tank. I don't have a scarab tattoo and don't generally wear orange speedos. From bonthorn, on Jul 8, 2008 at 07:05PM
