Better Late Than Tomorrow!

Our 11am departure was definitely over-optimistic.

We were both too giddy with nerves and excitement that we just wanted to GET ON THE ROAD! Eventually we did. All in good time, as they say.

By the time we sorted out everything (ie. security alarm disabling, handing over keys, last minute packing, returning our rental car, and the biggest thing of all, packing Foxy itself with all our gear and equipment), it was well past 5pm before we set off.

See pics of everything we had to fit into Foxy. It was like playing one huge giant game of rubix cube. You could only move one piece if you moved another one first.

Today, or rather, this evening, we tried to get as far out of Cape Town as possible, and ended up staying in a beautiful little organic farm's campsite between Citrusdal and Clanwilliam. We found it on our GPS using the "nearest campsite" function and the owner was a happy-go-lucky chap with wild curly hair and a quirky habit of saying "unbelievable" and "oh my goodness" every second phrase. He was so nice, you couldn't help but just smile.

Since we arrived around 20:30, we couldn't see much but to compensate, we had a spectacular sky full of stars. It was too late to whip out the gas stove so we ate Pringles and tuna sandwiches before climbing into our rooftop tent for a sound sleep.

Start: Hout Bay, SA. 17:00
End: halfway between Citrusdale and Clanwilliam, SA. 20:30
Distance Travelled: 260 km
Road Conditions: smooth paved highway and then some dirt roads to farm
Temperature: mild/hot day but due to all our packing and shifting boxes, it felt much hotter. Night quite cool.
