into Sudan's great unknown

Gondar, Ethiopia

What a great experience we've had in Ethiopia.

We got our Egyptian and Sudanese visas sans problemes in Addis, got Foxy fixed again (AC is definitely busted, no parts available whatsoever), saw Lalibela's impressive rowk-hewn sites, visited the monastries on Lake Tana, travelling by "speed" boat to each island, had a surreal dinner experience last night in one of Gondar's poshest nightclub. Now hoping to have a quick glance-around Gondar's impressive castles and then head straight for the Sudan border.

Have been trying desperately to upload more blogs and pictures here, but no luck. Connection is B-A-D, and that's when there is electricity. I am going cold-turkey with this internet thing so when I get home, i think i'll spend a few days straight online relishing the fact that i simply can!

We hope to make it to Gedaref in Sudan tonight, if not we'll have to bush camp. It all depends on the road conditions and border formalities, although land mines and bandits aren't uncommon in the area, so we think it best to make it to some sort of 'town' and avoid bushing it tonight.

Last we heard, it was 45 Celcius in Khartoum. Yikes. Heat and desert, here we come!
