What goes down must come up

Today was an up day.

It didn't rain one drop. This is important because we don't have to fold the tent away wet.

We got the last of our clothes washed. My orange fleece was filthy.

We picked up our Sudanese visas at the embassy at 3pm. No questions asked, we walked out within 5 minutes! And we were all so worried about getting a 2 week transit visa after hearing and reading so many horror stories from other Overlanders.

We even managed to change some Ethiopian Birr to Sudanese Pounds with a couple of German travellers who had just come from Sudan.

There was the typical slow internet connection today, interrupted by several power outages, but we managed to book our London to Toronto flight for August 13.

And with Sue's great help, we have our ferry tickets from France to Jersey (July 28) and from Jersey to England (Aug. 3)!! It's all very exciting now that we have official dates. It seems real, final and definite. We will make it home.

Tonight we went to the Rainbow Korean Restaurant for dinner. It was good, genuine, wholesome Korean food. Amazing, who would have thought, in Addis?? There was no electricity (not a surprise anymore), so we dined by candlelight.

When we got back to Wanza Hotel, Thomas was there with his Toyota squeezed into the courtyard. He had gone up to Bale National Park for a couple of days before coming to Addis.

The electricity was back on so we took a HOT SHOWER and devoured the chocolate cake we bought at a café earlier for dessert, divine!

And another bonus, there was no yelling or banging at night. Just Matt sleeptalking.
